This taffy colored grain painted doll cradle is a lovely example of folk art in 19th century America. It is built like the full size cradles of the period were built. A string of bells was added on the underside to entertain the doll as it was rocked. The age crack in the hood is a normal consequence of having used a thin slice of pine to make the hood.
